The story behind BX1,
Sydney North Shore's most glamorous Boxing Gym.
Fitness in Sydney has become a way of life but Sydney’s fitness fanatics are now spoiled for choice.
BX1, the latest high-end fitness club to open in Sydney, is leading the way.
Set in Neutral Bay, BX1 is a spectacular 500 square-meter space with state-of-the-art facilities, including a full-size boxing ring, two floors and generous 5.5m-high ceilings.
BX1 offers a sophisticated and swanky gym environment, offering members a combination of the latest technology in fitness equipment, boxing, innovative training and classes, all set amongst luxury amenities ideally located in the heart of Sydney North Shore.
We designed BX1 to be different, but we also wanted to respect the age old art of boxing. We wanted a rough, industrial style chic but with an elegant and timeless appeal so it will never be out of style. Our focus is on the word "timeless". Our creation needed to have that note of something classic. We did not just want to design a cool and contemporary gym where everyone goes for a while and then forgets about it. Hence, BX1 is a real showcase in the boxing field reflecting the history, the glamour and the craftsmanship. With this hard to achieve balance of grit, athletic authenticity and ultra-luxury, BX1 truly moves the dial on in its fitness offering: a unique boxing gym experience driven by a fantastic team.
With BX1 the ring is the main star.
At BX1 we stand by the principles of training really hard, and then being able to relax in this glamorous environment. We believe that in the modern world people need the community and a sense of belonging. In the middle of the room is a champion in the making, but as well, the people at the punching bags, they are overlooking him, so it's also inspiring to the athlete in the ring. In effect, you’re training with everyone and you’re in our community.
We love to create a journey for everyone, and help people connect. It’s not just a gym, it’s like another family where you make friends, where you talk about everything and socialize after you train.
The first thing you’ll notice about BX1, is the potent uplifting smell of bergamot, niaouli, white cypress and black pepper that circulates the sleek space. It’s a fact that your mood and motivation is enhanced in a pleasantly scented environment as a fragrence has the ability to create a frame of mind to either relax and rejuvenate or inspire and re-energize.
Please ensure you replenish nutrients with a revitalising drink from BX1 Juice & Coffee Bar located in the club lounge before departure
There’s been a full-on boxing renaissance of late, and after training at BX1, it’s easy to see why. For one, this is the kind of exercise that even the biggest “sportsphobe” could get behind. It’s a world away from the hamster-wheel feeling of the treadmill. You’re actually learning a useful self-defence skill, and it really puts your brain - as well as your body - to the test. Despite the cutting-edge kit and exceptional coaches and trainers, possibly the best thing about BX1 is that, it’s all about training to become stronger, fitter, better; not just slimmer or musclier.
Boxing's rise in popularity has been coupled by a deeper understanding and appreciation for the sport. Fans are engrossed from the minute competitors enter the ring; the precision they hold, technique they execute and stamina they possess are all skills crafted through the athletes rigorous training routine. It comes with no surprise that the sport's participants are now expanding from a niche professional participant pool to a wider audience of those seeking to gain the benefits of boxing through their regular work-out regime - and all you have to do is sign-up for a membership with BX1.

Not only will BX1's private classes advance boxing skills, they also provide Members with the opportunity to maximise fat loss, sculpt their body and challenge their mind through the testing yet enjoyable work-outs.
It’s not difficult to see why BX1’s training programme incorporates so much strength and conditioning work. Doing weights will massively improve your boxing, and for us mere mortals, combining the cardio and coordination aspects of fighting with strengthening activities is a straightforward route to optimum, attainable fitness levels.

Bill Temm: BX1's Head Instructor.
If head boxing coach Bill Temmn can’t teach you how to deliver a punch of professional standards, no one can. Bill’s been training top clients and celebrities since he retired from professional boxing. He’s one of those rare teachers that manages to pull off being incredibly strict and also making learning hilariously fun at the same time.
But for all the laughs, in your first session, you'll discovered that boxing is a lot more complicated than it looks, and that the chances of you actually sparring sometime in the foreseeable future are only in your hands and ambition. Another revelation will be that it’s not all just in the arms - boxing is an amazing full body workout, and you’ll definitely be feeling it in your legs the day after a session.
Bill shares with us his story.

Tips for Your First Boxing Training:
What You Need To Know Before You Train
Boxing is not just an arm workout. When done properly, it is a full body workout—legs, core, back, shoulders, and arms as well as a cardiovascular workout.
Upon hearing the word “boxing,” visions of Rocky, loose teeth, and bloody noses used to pop into my head. But when I finally mustered the courage to take my first boxing class, I was totally surprised. It wasn’t gritty and filled exclusively with pro-athletes like I imagined, but inviting, a ton of fun, and a great workout. People high-fived, the music was bumpin', and I left feeling like a total badass. Needless to say, I was instantly hooked.
So if you’re feeling hesitant about slapping on some gloves, here’s what you should know before you take your first boxing class:
